On February 20, 2025, at the Kenya National Theatre, HEVA was honoured to receive the 2024 Ushirika Award at the Kenya Theatre Awards. This recognition is a celebration to the team’s dedication towards fostering collaboration and driving sustainable growth in Kenya’s creative economy, particularly in the theatre and performing arts sectors.

Hii Stage Program
In partnership with Alliance Française Nairobi and supported by the French Embassy in Kenya through the Création Africa programme, Hii Stage has empowered 11 outstanding artists and groups, facilitating 45 performances across 5 counties. This initiative has provided a platform for diverse artistic expressions while actively engaging local communities. Learn more
Poetry Theatre Development Project
Supported by the Ignite Culture program—a grant facility implemented by HEVA in partnership with the British Council Kenya and funded by the European Union—this project has pioneered Kenya’s first accredited tertiary-level poetry curriculum. By offering structured training, mentorship, and performance opportunities, the initiative equips poets with the skills to advance their craft and careers. Read more
